I’ve done the found pattern exploration from the book : How to be an explorer of the world.

It was fascinating how many patterns there are when you look around. Most of the times you don’t even see them because you’re not looking for them. Well, I went looking for them and I found a lot! The more you look, the more you find. It’s an exploration we all should do sometimes, you’re looking different to the world and your environment. 

Here some patterns I found!

The first: The first pattern is from one of our table mats.                                                                         The second: The second pattern is from our wooden cupboard.                                                           The third: The third pattern I found is from our cushion.                                                                        The fourth: The fourth pattern is from another cushion.                                                                       The fifth: My fifth pattern is from my lovely warm blanket.                                                                    The sixth: The sixth pattern is from our bluetooth radio. (lovely pattern)                                             The seventh: The seventh pattern I found is from our cupboard door.                                                 The eighth: My eighth pattern is from our rug made from jeanstags.

The future: A smart wheelchair.

What is it?

Permobile ( a Swedish company ) makes a lot of inventive wheelchairs, but now they are making another new wheelchair. This wheelchair is connected with the internet and had GPS, hereby it is able to send a message to ask for help when the wheelchair falls over. But besides that it has different dashboards so it can send repair notices and furthermore it can send information to the doctor. Maybe this will be the wheelchair of the future. The wheelchair is not for sale yet, but it will be next year, if you can miss $35,000 it can be yours..

Is it cool or not?

I think it is cool because it makes the people who have a wheelchair feel more safe. It is also easy for repaire and for the doctor. Moreover it is a soothing feeling to know where your loved one is with his/her wheelchair and that there will be help right away when they’re in trouble. But it is an invasion of privacy. People can see where you are, is this soothing or disturbing? People now a days take privacy serious but I think they also take it less serious. But this wheelchair offers so many positive features that the privacy invasion isn’t that high on your list anymore. Maybe we will see this type of wheelchairs in the future but they have to become cheaper. The time will learn!

Sit smart for a healthy body and mind, Darma.

What is Darma?

Darma is a smart cushion you can put on your chair. It’s made for people who work in offices, but it’s useful for every person who sits a lot. The cushion is connected with your phone and documents how you sit, so it can coach you to sit better. It also tells you when you have to stand up or make a movement so it can prevent you from pain in your back or neck. But it also monitors your breathing rate and your heartbeat, but besides that it can also sense when you have a lot on your mind, than it will tells you it’s good for you to take a pause. Darma is an idea from Dr. Junhao Hu, who had a lot of pain in his back himself. He found a team who helped him to realize the product.

What makes it cool, or not?

It can be a really good product, certainly for offices. It may prevent people from a lot of pain, which has the effect that people don’t have to visit the physio therapist as much as they do now. So it can make you healthier and prevent you from stress. But not everyone wants a cushion that monitors almost everything. And maybe your boss can see that you’re not healthy and your job could be at risk. But I think there’s a market for these cushions because health is very important for people nowadays. In the future maybe everyone will have a cushion like this, and I hope it will improve the healthiness.

Lammily a realistic barbie who also gets her period.

What is it?

It’s a doll, a realistic version of the barbie. Barbie is a doll with the perfect body and perfect life. But barbie is not realistic, I mean how many girls look like barbie? A girl with the perfect body, without any acne or cellulite… she doesn’t exist in real life. But Lammily is the first realistic doll, you can buy a set of marks, like acne etc. to make her even more realistic. The creator of Lammily ; Nickolay Lamm made the first doll as an art object to show that average is beautiful. But many people, especially parents asked where they could buy a Lammily doll. So he started selling the dolls. He also came with something extra, now you can also buy a period party which is useful to teach young girls about growing up and having a period. It also makes the taboo more easy to talk about.

The Period party includes:

• A pair of panties which fits the doll.
• An education pamphlet.
• 18 pads and liner stickers.
• A calendar and dot stickers.

What makes Lammily cool?

It’s cool because Lammily teaches girls on a young age what a realistic body is. Anorexia is a big issue now a days, Lammily shows that average is beautiful and being too skinny and perfect, isn’t. Lammily is a doll that shows what a realistic and healthy body looks like, this is why it also fits in the sector health. Besides the fact that girls can play with the doll, it’s also a way of learning about having your first period and growing up as a healthy women. I think it’s really cool, and I think we will see more dolls like this in the future because now a days realistic and healthy is the new perfect.

It’s not just a ring, it’s a Ringly.

These days you see a lot of new wearables, like the smartwatch or a smartband. But this is something new, more girly and glamorous. It’s called the Ringly.

What is it?

It’s a beautiful ring, you can choose a lot of different stones. But it’s more than just a ring. Your Ringly is in contact with your smartphone. We all recognize the situation that you don’t have pockets and put your phone in your bag on the silence mode because it’s not cool when your phone makes a lot of noise during a meeting or wherever you are. So Christina Mercando came with this ring. It vibrates when you get a message or when there’s an incoming call. But it also has a tiny light which lights up in the color you’ve chosen. It’s a new way of inline, you’re wearing a ring but it’s more than that.

What makes it cool, or not?

I think it’s a cool new wearable, and it’s an useful product for women. It makes you more social, because you’re not always looking at your phone to see if someone has sent you a message or you’ve missed a call. It’s a ring which is beautiful in different ways, it looks good on your finger but it’s also getting you away from your phone all day long. Or is it not? Maybe you’re someone who doesn’t look often on your phone, and when you wear this ring it can instead seduce you to use your phone more often. Well maybe it brings us more together or maybe it doesn’t. But I will find it out myself, because I will receive my Rinlgy soon.

Sublimotion, a whole new experience.

Sublimotion, a restaurant with a whole new concept. It’s not just a restaurant, it’s more than that.

What is it?

Paco Roncero, is a two Michelin star chef and also the owner and innovator of Sublimotion. He started this project in 2012, and two years later in 2014 the restaurant opened its doors on the island Ibiza. It’s a very expensive restaurant because the food is of excellent quality and the experience makes it worth a lot of money. Paco Roncero wanted a whole new concept, not just a boring restaurant with good food. When you eat at sublimotion, it’s like eating in a movie. They work with a lot of new high-tech stuff. While eating the table and the environment  changes in a theme, and the food will be served in the same theme.

It’s a new way of eating together in a surreal environment.

Why do I think it’s cool or not?

I think it’s a cool new concept, which creates a new way of eating dinner together. But is it really together? Yes of course you sit together and experience the same thing and eat the same food, but with an oculus rift on your head you can’t see each other well and I am not sure you will talk as much as you will without it. You don’t have to wear the oculus rift all the time, so maybe it is a social dinner. I think there will be more restaurants like this in the future and than more people will be able to eat like this because the concept will become more affordable. We will see, but I will try it as soon as I can.
